Month Eleven
Reviewed by: Dr. Travis Satnarine BSc. MBBS.
This is a month of change for parents as your baby becomes more independent, you may even have to settle for quick hugs or kisses. Your child has become quite the busy body.
Baby’s growth and development
At 11 months old the average weights are around 20.8 for boys and 19.2 for girls, with heights of 29.3 and 28.7 respectively. Again, these are just estimating and once your infant is healthy that is all that matters.
Your baby is eating more and more food and becoming less interested in the bottle. He is ready to get up to walks and play with other kids. He can feed himself and even understand more.
Baby now wants what he wants and will go to great lengths to get it. Baby can plan and figure out how to get an item that is out of reach. Baby is very aware of what is happening the environment around him and sleeps about 14 hours – three hours (broken into two naps) during the day and 11 hours at night.
Milestones

- Milestones are just a guide; babies do different things are different times. If you have concerns talk about it at the next visit with your pediatrician.
Health Care
No doctor visit has been scheduled for this month but with baby socializing a bit more (at day-care) or hanging out with relatives, so he may be exposed to common colds and other viruses. Be sure to call on your doctor if you think it’s urgent or if you feel concerns about your baby.
