Pregnancy Week 18
Week 18.
Your baby’s lungs are starting to develop the bronchioles, the smallest air tubes of all. These tubes will eventually develop a mesh of respiratory sacs which will let the baby breathe in oxygen after birth. His ears are in their correct place and almost fully developed, soon his sense of hearing will be ready.
In the case of baby girls, the uterus and fallopian tubes are developed by now in their designated places. For boys, their genitals are now clearly visible.
Mom, around this time leg cramps and backaches may become more intense, your hands and feet may be swollen, and you will probably have trouble sleeping. Frequent use of the washroom, along with bouts of constipation become the new normal. Some women even develop hemorrhoids during pregnancy. Continue to eat balanced meals, drink lots of water, and exercise.
