Pregnancy Week 39
Week 39.
Doctors consider this to be full-term. Weeks 37-38 is considered pre-term, 41 is late-term and 42 onwards is post-term. The baby should be about 7 pounds but many babies weigh below and above this.
The amniotic fluid is quite low at this point and the baby is ready for birth. If a mother opts for Cesarean Section, or to induce labour, this is usually the week it will be done.
Mom, you may be feeling a lot of pressure in your pelvis and you might even feel electric sensations in your groin as the baby touches sensitive nerves. If you have seen the ‘bloody show’, start feeling increasingly regular contractions and/or your water breaks, you are going into labor. It’s good to know the Signs of Labour as it may differ for each woman.
