Pregnancy Week 1
Week 1.
It is the first week of your pregnancy, but wait, you are not even pregnant yet! Your period is here, and your body is releasing the uterine lining as it does every month in anticipation of a pregnancy. In a couple of weeks, you will ovulate and the egg to be fertilized will be released, this happens around two (2) weeks before the start of your next period.
It is important to remember the first day of your last period as Obstetricians use this day as the first day of the 40 weeks pregnancy journey to childbirth. We know, you aren’t pregnant yet, but it is difficult to get the exact date of conception, therefore, the count starts with day one of your last period. Most women find out they are pregnant when they miss a period, at this point they are probably already 4-6 weeks pregnant. Try our pregnancy calculator.
