Pregnancy Week 2

Week 2.

At the end of week two, ovulation takes place. During ovulation, an egg is released and travels down the fallopian tube. After intercourse, millions of sperm cells race towards the finish line to fertilize the egg. A single sperm will fertilize the egg, this takes about 24 hours. Once fertilized, the egg’s surface then changes so that no other sperm can enter. Both sperm and egg carry 23 chromosomes each, the baby’s gender and genetic makeup is complete.
